Awareness Program on Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act (RPwD Act 2016) Held in Udaipur

Udaipur, July 22 — An awareness program focusing on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act 2016 was successfully organized by the Department of Psychiatry at Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Umarda, Udaipur. The session was conducted at the Anganwadi Centre and Government Primary School (Branch of Fateh Senior Secondary School) in Kumawatpura, Shakha Chowk, Udaipur.

Guided by Dr. Praveen Khairkar, Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry, the event aimed to promote community understanding and inclusion of persons with disabilities. The program saw active participation from Dr. Priyanka (Psychiatrist), Dr. Divya (Junior Resident), and clinical psychologists Indrapal Salvi and Tejendra Nath.

A total of 42 local women participated in the session, which was held in the presence of school teachers. Additionally, students from the PGDRP program of MLSU Arts College volunteered enthusiastically, assisting in disseminating key messages and spreading awareness within the community.

One of the key highlights of the program was an interactive quiz session, designed to enhance engagement and understanding of disability rights and inclusion. The initiative was widely appreciated and emphasized the growing need for sustained community education and participatory awareness.
