Noida, February 14: A significant relief for millions of commuters in Noida and Greater Noida has been announced, as the central government has approved the extension of the Aqua Line Metro from Botanical Garden to Sector 142. This elevated corridor, spanning 11.56 kilometers, is expected to be completed within four years.
The completion of this project will facilitate smoother and faster travel between Noida and Greater Noida. The detailed project report (DPR) for this ambitious initiative had already received approval from the Uttar Pradesh cabinet. With the central government’s approval now in place, construction can proceed without any hindrance.
This project is considered a crucial step towards modernizing and strengthening urban transport systems in line with the central government’s ‘Developed India 2047’ vision. The corridor, which will cost approximately ₹2,254.35 crores, will feature a total of eight new metro stations, including Botanical Garden, Sector 44, Noida Office, Sector 97, Sector 105, Sector 108, Sector 93, and Panchsheel Balak Inter College.
At the Botanical Garden station, this line will connect with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) Blue Line, providing seamless connectivity to Delhi for passengers. This is expected to reduce traffic congestion and benefit the environment. Experts believe that this extension will significantly benefit residential and commercial areas such as Sector 44, 93, 105, and 108. For thousands of employees working in IT and corporate offices, this metro line will become a primary mode of daily commuting.
Additionally, the real estate sector is anticipated to receive a boost. Furthermore, the central government has also approved the metro route from Greater Noida Depot Station to Bodaki. This will be the shortest extension of the Aqua Line to date, measuring 2.6 kilometers, with two stations planned at Junpat and Bodaki. A large and modern station is proposed to be developed at Bodaki, with an estimated expenditure of around ₹416 crores. These extension projects of the Aqua Line are expected to strengthen connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida, alleviate traffic pressure, and accelerate overall development in the region.
