Mumbai, January 28 – The plane carrying Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar crashed during an emergency landing at Baramati Airport.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. The flight had taken off from Mumbai and crashed approximately an hour later. Images from Baramati showed the plane engulfed in flames after the crash, with wreckage scattered in several places. An ambulance was seen leaving the scene.
Reports indicate that several people have been injured and admitted to a nearby hospital. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), six people have died in the accident. Further updates on the situation are awaited.
Ajit Pawar was scheduled to attend rallies in Baramati on Wednesday ahead of the local body elections.
