Rohit Sharma’s Record Stays Intact as India’s Young Star Joins Elite T20I List
Mumbai, February 2 – Abhishek Sharma delivered a scintillating performance in the fifth T20I match between India and England at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The young opener tore apart England’s bowling attack, smashing a sensational 37-ball century, making it the second-fastest T20I hundred by an Indian.
With this historic knock, Abhishek Sharma now ranks third among players from Full-Member Nations for the fastest T20I century. However, Rohit Sharma’s record remains untouched, as the ‘Hitman’ still holds the title of India’s fastest T20I century, scored in just 35 balls against Sri Lanka in 2017.

Abhishek started cautiously, taking two overs to settle in, but he shifted gears in the third over, launching a ferocious attack on England’s bowlers. He reached his century off the first ball of the 11th over, taking a single off Brydon Carse to achieve the milestone.
With this, Abhishek broke the record for the fastest T20I century in terms of overs, surpassing Quinton de Kock, who had taken 10.2 overs to reach his century. Abhishek achieved this in just 10.1 overs!
