4 Soldiers, Including an Officer, Martyred in Encounter with Terrorists in Doda
Jammu, July 16 (Udaipur Kiran) – In an encounter with terrorists in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, four soldiers, including an officer, have been martyred. The encounter took place yesterday evening in the Shia Dhar Chaundh Mata forest area of Koti village, located 300 kilometers from Doda in the Jammu division.
According to an official, five security personnel, including a military officer, were injured in the encounter. The injured were admitted to the hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, four of them, including the officer, succumbed to their injuries. Security forces have cordoned off the area, and additional troops have been dispatched to the scene.
The encounter began around 7:45 PM when soldiers from the Rashtriya Rifles and the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group initiated a joint cordon and search operation in the forest area.
The Army’s White Knight Corps posted on X (formerly Twitter) during the night, stating, “Based on specific intelligence, a joint operation by the Army and Police was ongoing in the general area north of Doda. At approximately 9 PM, contact was established with terrorists, leading to heavy firing. Additional soldiers have been sent to the area.”
This incident comes just 24 hours after security forces eliminated three terrorists in North Kashmir’s Kupwara. A large cache of weapons was recovered from the slain terrorists, who were planning a major attack. The vigilant soldiers of the police and army thwarted their nefarious plans.
