Bandipora : Security forces have arrested two associates of terrorists in Bandipora district. Both belong to the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organisation and were on the look out for an opportunity to attack the armed forces. Grenades and pistols have been recovered from the associates of the arrested terrorists.
A police official said that based on specific information, 26 Assam Rifles personnel and Bandipora Police put up a joint block near Pethkot Red Fort More. While checking the vehicles, a white SUV stopped at some distance from the block. Spotting the security forces, the driver tried to turn back from there, but the security forces present at the block caught him.
When the two youths sitting in the car were interrogated, they identified themselves as Mohammad Yusuf Wani, a resident of Pethkot Bandipora and Manzoor Ahmad Shah, a resident of Shah Bagh Bandipora. He told that he is related to Lashkar-e-Taiba. Three pistol magazines, 24 live 9mm rounds, 5 hand grenades, one blanket, fake police ID card, fake health department identity card and other items of daily use were recovered from the vehicle.
During preliminary investigation, it has been found that both of them were in contact with active Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists. Both the associates of the terrorists were assigned the responsibility of carrying out an attack. Apart from this, both of them also used to provide logistics to terrorists, involve youth in terrorism and incite them for target killing.
