Udaipur, February 18, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) : The 190th birth anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa was observed with devotion and spiritual fervour at the auditorium of Nimbark Teachers Training College. The programme was jointly organised by Shantipeeth Sansthan and the college under the theme ‘Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa: प्रेरक of Spiritual Consciousness’.

Speakers highlighted that Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa appeared at a time when society was affected by confusion, divisions and disputes in the name of religion. They said he not only explained the path from the individual soul to the Supreme but also demonstrated a simple and accessible way to attain it. In today’s era of material pursuits, his teachings were described as a guiding force towards collective well-being.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Head of the Sanskrit Department at Mohanlal Sukhadia University, said India offers complete freedom for self-transformation and spiritual realisation. He noted that the Indian knowledge tradition, rooted in the Vedas, has always nurtured higher consciousness. Explaining the philosophical idea of “Soham” (I am That), he said it helps individuals realise their infinite potential and can inspire teachers to awaken inner divinity in students.
Anant Ganesh Trivedi, founder of Shantipeeth, described Paramhansa as the culmination of centuries of spiritual practice. He said the saint provided a universal path for human liberation and spiritual harmony. Referring to social reform movements such as Brahmo Samaj, Arya Samaj and Prarthana Samaj, he stated that Ramakrishna offered a unifying spiritual foundation during times of change.
Presiding over the event, former Principal Dr. Surendra Dwivedi shared incidents from Paramhansa’s life and described him as a messenger of harmony among all religions. He said India’s knowledge tradition promotes unity and timeless values.
College Principal Dr. Hanuman Sahay Sharma welcomed the guests and termed the philosophy of Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda as eternally relevant. He stressed the importance of character building among youth.
Dr. Kamal Singh Rathore, Dean of Student Welfare at B.N. University, said that the teachings of Ramakrishna inspired Swami Vivekananda to spread India’s spiritual heritage across the world. He also expressed gratitude on behalf of Shantipeeth.
The programme began with Saraswati Vandana and Vedic chanting by trainee students. It was conducted by Dr. Bharti Dashora. Former Conservator of Forests Omkar Lal Menaria, poet Shreni Dan Charan, faculty members, citizens and a large number of trainees were present. The event concluded with the singing of Vande Mataram.
