This information was shared by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Jairam Gadkari in response to an unstarred question raised in Parliament by MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat.

MP Dr. Rawat had sought details regarding the Greenfield expressways currently being constructed in the country, the number of proposed or under-construction Greenfield expressways in Rajasthan, national highways developed or upgraded under the Bharatmala Project on a state-wise basis, and whether any special scheme exists to ensure safe and convenient connectivity of villages to national highways through feeder roads.

In his reply, Union Minister Gadkari informed that across the country, 35 Greenfield expressways with a total length of 10,196 kilometres have been completed as access-controlled corridors. In Rajasthan, four Greenfield expressways with a total length of 1,190 kilometres are being implemented at a cost of ₹40,520 crore.

The minister also stated that the Bharatmala Project Phase-I was approved by the Government in 2017 with an estimated outlay of ₹5,35,000 crore to cover 34,800 kilometres across the country. Under this programme, projects covering a total length of 26,425 kilometres were awarded, out of which 22,223 kilometres had already been completed by February 2026.

The Amritsar–Jamnagar corridor will function as an important route connecting landlocked regions such as Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh with major seaports in Gujarat. It is expected to provide integrated connectivity to economic corridors, including two NMP centres at Bikaner and Jodhpur, and three tourism centres at Bikaner, Jodhpur and Barmer. The corridor will also include a dedicated utility corridor for optical fibre cables, which will support high-speed connectivity in remote areas and serve as a base for the rollout of 5G and 6G services.

In Rajasthan, 394 kilometres of the 8-lane Delhi–Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway has been completed, while construction work on another 47 kilometres is ongoing. The expressway passes through the districts of Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, Bundi, and Kota.

Similarly, the 6-lane Amritsar–Jamnagar Economic Corridor spanning 637 kilometres has been completed, covering districts including Hanumangarh, Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Barmer, and Jalore.

The 4-lane Paniyala–Barodameo project is currently under construction and passes through Alwar, Kotputli, and Behror. In addition, the 6-lane Agra–Gwalior project has been completed, covering the Dholpur district.
