Jaipur, August 5 (Udaipur Kiran): Doctors at a women’s hospital have set two significant milestones in a single day. The first milestone was the delivery of quadruplets – two boys and two girls – through a normal delivery to a pregnant woman from Dausa. This event is extraordinary as a normal delivery of four babies is a rare and challenging procedure. After birth, the babies experienced some breathing difficulties and were admitted to the nursery for treatment.
The second milestone was a complex fifth C-section performed on a pregnant woman from Tonk who was already battling severe medical problems. Despite facing challenges such as severe preeclampsia, four previous C-sections, Rh-negative pregnancy, giant uterine fibroids, anemia, and abdominal pain, the woman was successfully delivered of a healthy baby. The doctors performed a myomectomy during the surgery, which is a challenging and complex procedure. After the surgery, the doctors stated that such cases require special care and patience, but both the mother and the baby are healthy following the successful operation.
Dr. Asha Verma, the Superintendent of the Women’s Hospital, informed that Santosh Prajapati (21), a resident of Dausa, was admitted to Unit-6 of the hospital on August 4. On Monday morning around 8 am, the woman was taken to the OT for delivery, where she gave birth to four babies through a normal delivery. Due to the low birth weight of the babies, they have been kept under special observation. Two babies weigh only one kilogram each, while one weighs 700 grams and another 930 grams. The doctor said that the woman is healthy now, but the babies are experiencing some breathing difficulties. She also mentioned that the woman had anemia during pregnancy, which is being treated at the same hospital.
NICU In-charge and Pediatrician Dr. Vishnu Agarwal informed that all four babies are currently admitted to the NICU unit and are on oxygen support. Since the delivery was premature, the babies are very small. Their weight is also low. Dr. Agarwal said that normally, babies weigh 2.5 kilograms or more at birth. These babies have very low weight. Therefore, there are more complications. The babies have some difficulty with their lungs, so they are having trouble breathing. The doctor said that the babies are being given the best possible treatment so that they can recover soon.
