Ramgarh, May 11: In a significant breakthrough in the brutal robbery at Shiv Shankar Jewelers in the Rajrappa police station area of Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district, police have arrested two key suspects. The special investigation team apprehended Nazma Khatun (40), the wife of main accused Subhani Ansari alias Lalka, along with her son-in-law Shah Nawaz Hussain (24).
During the investigation, police uncovered a large stash of gold and silver jewelry buried underground, following the suspects’ indications. Ramgarh SP Mukesh Kumar Luniyat reported that the robbery occurred in broad daylight on April 21 at the jewelry store located at Chitrapur Rajrappa Mor.
After the incident, a special investigation team led by DSP Chandan Vats quickly arrested seven criminals on April 24, recovering a significant amount of stolen goods and weapons. Since then, police have been actively searching for the remaining stolen items and absconding suspects.
On May 10, acting on a tip-off, police intensified their efforts against the family of the main accused. During questioning, it was revealed that a portion of the stolen jewelry was hidden underground at Nazma Khatun’s residence. Police excavated the site and recovered a gold-like necklace, two earrings, and a large quantity of silver bangles, bracelets, and rings. The recovered items were estimated to weigh approximately 49 grams of yellow metal (gold-like) and around 1350 grams of silver jewelry.
In total, 134 pieces of jewelry have been seized by the police. The SP clarified that operations to arrest other absconding accused and recover the remaining stolen goods are ongoing.
