WhatsApp is rolling out a new update for all iOS users that brings minor UI changes and new features to its video calling feature. The new update will be released from Monday and will be available to all iPhone users as it is a globally stable version. Users can find the update by searching for WhatsApp in the App Store. The new update comprehensively introduces the green button and interface design and adds redesigned interface elements.
The new WhatsApp for iOS update brings the build version to 9/24/74. All supported iPhone models will be available for installation as soon as they become available. Updates are delivered in batches, so some users may receive them a few days late. According to WhatsApp, this new feature will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
Notably, this update adds a green button and notification icon for all iOS users. The instant messaging platform first began testing the feature last month. It has also been released to many Android users in the last few weeks. After the update, you will see the New Message button and the new group, contact, and community icons in green. Unread message notifications and the number of unread messages displayed next to the chat list are also displayed in green. Green used to be the default theme for Night Mode, but now it’s a lighter color. Colors also appear when you use the app in Lite mode.
Additionally, the new WhatsApp update brings redesigned icons across the app. These were also observed in previous beta updates and are now rolling out to all users. With this UI redesign, the platform now uses consistent icons across Android, iOS and web interfaces.
Finally, the company is also adding voice support for the screen sharing feature for video calls. Previously, when you shared your screen through the app, other participants couldn’t hear the audio playing on their device, only the external sound recorded through their microphone. Now users can listen to both audio channels together. This feature was recently added to the Android application platform.
