Heavy Rainfall Expected in North India, Heatwave Alert for Gujarat

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert predicting significant weather changes across various regions in the coming days. A new Western Disturbance is set to impact Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand from March 9 to March 14, bringing continuous rainfall to the region. Additionally, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on March 10.

Meanwhile, parts of western India, including Gujarat, will experience an intense heatwave starting March 8, which will gradually spread to other parts of Gujarat and the Konkan region from March 9-12.

In the last 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall has been recorded in:
Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim
Meghalaya, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala, and Mahe

As the Western Disturbance gains momentum from March 9, rainfall activity is expected to intensify across North India and parts of the Northeast.

Western Disturbance to Impact North India

From March 9 to March 14, the following states will witness rainfall and stormy weather:

Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand – Continuous rain from March 9-14
Punjab – Showers expected between March 12-14
Haryana – Rain likely on March 13 and 14
Western Uttar Pradesh – Showers expected on March 14

Rising Temperatures: Heatwave Alert for Gujarat & Western India

The IMD has warned of rising temperatures across northwest, central, and western India over the next four to five days.

📌 Northwest India: Maximum temperatures to increase by 3-4°C in the next four days.
📌 Central & Eastern India, Maharashtra: Expected temperature rise of 2-4°C in five days.
📌 Gujarat: Maximum temperatures may increase by 3-5°C over the next five days.
