PM Modi had recently praised the film and its portrayal of Maratha warrior Sambhaji Maharaj, saying, “It is Maharashtra and Mumbai that have taken both Marathi and Hindi cinema to new heights. These days, there’s great buzz around Chhava. The bravery of Sambhaji Maharaj has been powerfully portrayed, inspired by Shivaji Sawant’s iconic Marathi novel.”

Box Office Success Continues Six Weeks Post Release
Chhava, which released on February 14, 2025, continues to dominate the box office. Even during major IPL matches like CSK vs SRH, audiences were seen flocking to theatres—proof of the film’s magnetic appeal.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film saw a 31% jump in collections on Sunday, earning ₹4.8 crore in a single day. The movie’s total domestic earnings now stand at ₹583.35 crore, while its global collection has touched ₹780 crore, making it one of the highest-grossing Indian films of the year.
