Udaipur, April 27, 2025 – In a significant initiative aimed at improving the lives of children and women, UNICEF and the Government of Rajasthan are witnessing promising results through their collaborative efforts. Under the Equally Sensitive 2 campaign led by Future Society, an innovative Learning Hub model is already showing success in Bichhiwada Gram Panchayat of Dungarpur.

Peer-Led Training Model to Empower Anganwadi Workers
The Government of Rajasthan, in partnership with UNICEF, has launched a peer training program for Anganwadi workers to strengthen child development and nutrition practices. The primary objective of this program is to build a network of trained Anganwadi workers who will act as resource persons for their peers, promoting best practices in early childhood care, nutrition, and health.
The program has been rolled out across Karauli, Pratapgarh, and Dungarpur districts, where Anganwadi workers receive training covering various aspects of child development, including nutrition, health, and early education. These trained individuals will serve as Learning Hubs, fostering a peer-to-peer learning and support system to scale the impact locally.
Learning Hubs Lead the Way for Statewide Expansion
According to Meenakshi Singh, Nutrition Specialist at UNICEF Rajasthan,
“This innovative program is a game-changer for Rajasthan. Anganwadi workers are crucial in promoting child health and nutrition. We are confident that this initiative will positively impact child development outcomes across the state.”
In Dungarpur’s Bichhiwada block alone, 10 Anganwadi centers have already been transformed into vibrant Learning Hubs. Buoyed by the early success, the Rajasthan Government has decided to expand the program statewide and has submitted a proposal to the Central Government for its endorsement and wider implementation.
Strengthening Grassroots Capacity for Long-Term Impact
This pioneering program stands as a testament to the shared commitment of UNICEF and the Government of Rajasthan towards sustainable improvements in child and maternal health. By investing in community-level capacity building and promoting a peer-driven learning ecosystem, the initiative aims to foster resilient communities where every child receives the support needed to thrive.
The positive developments in southern Rajasthan underscore the potential for replicating the model in other parts of India, driving nationwide progress in early childhood development and maternal empowerment.
