New Delhi, 9th September (Udaipur Kiran) – Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant praised his team’s hard work and discipline in the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
In a statement, Pant said, “Although the second semifinal against South Delhi Superstars was called off due to rain, there is no need to be disheartened. Some things are beyond our control, and this was one of those situations. However, the way Purani Dilli 6 made it this far is commendable and deserves appreciation.”
Though Pant has not been playing in the tournament due to his commitments in the Duleep Trophy, he has kept a close watch on the progress of his team, Purani Dilli 6. He added, “I’ve seen how much effort the boys have put in to reach this stage. I truly admire their patience and determination. It’s unfortunate that the rain halted our campaign, but as they say, when one door closes, another opens. We’ve created something special this season, and I’m confident we will come back stronger next year with the title in our sights.”
Ishant Sharma, who has been guiding the team from practice sessions to the field, also expressed his disappointment with the team’s exit.
He said, “It’s heartbreaking to be knocked out of the semifinal without playing. I’ve witnessed how much heart the boys have put into this tournament. Such situations are indeed disappointing, but I’m proud of my team. They have always made me and the team proud. I’m sure we will return next season with a comeback that everyone will remember.”
As per the tournament rules, if a match is canceled due to rain, the team placed higher in the points table automatically advances to the final.
