New Delhi, June 19: The Ministry of Education on Tuesday canceled the UGC-NET 2024 (University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test) conducted in various cities across the country. The ministry stated that the decision was made following reports of malpractices. A CBI investigation has been ordered into the matter.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the UGC-NET in two shifts on June 18.
In a statement, the Ministry of Education mentioned that the UGC received information regarding malpractices from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analysis Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The statement read, “To ensure the highest level of transparency and sanctity in the examination process, the Ministry of Education has decided to cancel the UGC-NET 2024. The exam will be re-conducted, and further information will be provided later. The CBI will investigate the matter.”
Meanwhile, on Wednesday night, the Ministry of Education also mentioned that the issue related to grace marks in the NEET-UG 2024 case has already been resolved. Concerning alleged irregularities in the conduct of the exam in Patna, a detailed report has been requested from the Economic Offences Unit of Bihar Police.
The statement added, “The government will take further action upon receiving this report. The government is committed to ensuring the sanctity of examinations and protecting the interests of students. Strict action will be taken against any individual or organization found involved in this matter.”
