RTI Reveals – Surajpol Police Prepared Forged Documents in the Name of SDM Court Girwa to Separate the Child from the Father
Udaipur : The Surajpol Police Station in Udaipur has taken custody of a five-year-old minor girl, ensuring her protection and determining her future. The case unfolded as a domestic dispute between Ashish Sharma, a resident of the Surajpol police jurisdiction, and his wife, Mrs. Payal Sharma. The couple was living separately during the ongoing dispute, while their daughter, Miss Adhya Sharma, continued to reside with her father, Ashish Sharma, who was responsible for her care and upbringing.

On March 12, 2023, a police officer from the Surajpol Police Station summoned Ashish Sharma to the police station. Upon arrival, the child was allegedly taken away from him by Constable Pushpa and the then Station House Officer, Dalpat Singh Rathore. The child was placed in illegal custody. Officer Dalpat Singh Rathore reportedly threatened Ashish Sharma with a kidnapping case and presented a document claiming that the SDM Court, Girwa, had issued a warrant under Section 97 of the CrPC. Consequently, the child would no longer be with him. Subsequently, five-year-old Adhya Sharma was presented as a “judge” in front of her father, Ashish Sharma, by Officer Dalpat Singh Rathore. She was handed over to Ashish Sharma’s wife, Payal Sharma, and her male companion, Shailendra Sharma. Following this, the aggrieved father was detained by the Surajpol Police Station. The police allegedly cited a warrant issued under Section 97 of the CrPC and also mentioned the child’s custody in the FIR.
When Ashish Sharma sought information about this warrant and action under the Right to Information Act 2005 from the SDM Office, Girwa, it was revealed that no such warrant had been issued by SDM Girwa. Officer Dalpat Singh Rathore, then in charge of the Surajpol Police Station, allegedly fabricated documents in the name of the SDM Court, Girwa, and forcibly separated the minor child from her father. The police reportedly accepted a substantial sum of money from Mrs. Payal Sharma and her male companion, Shailendra Sharma, in exchange for orchestrating this alleged conspiracy to take away the child.
