‘Udaipur Has Resolved to Defeat Cyber Crime’: Mewar Bachao Manch Launches Public Awareness Campaign

Udaipur: Mewar Bachao Manch has launched its third public awareness campaign, “Udaipur Has Resolved to Defeat Cyber Crime,” which is receiving widespread support from residents across the city. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the growing threat of cyber fraud through a unique approach that combines Indian cultural values, self-discipline and behavioural change, instead of relying solely on conventional technical training.

Under the campaign, volunteers are interacting with people at business establishments, schools, coaching centres, social organisations, public squares and other public places to educate them about cyber safety. The sessions emphasise that cyber criminals first target a person’s mind and emotions before exploiting digital devices.

Participants are also being advised that if they become victims of cyber fraud, they should immediately call the National Cyber Helpline 1930 and file a complaint on the official government cyber crime portal. Prompt reporting significantly improves the chances of recovering lost money.

The campaign follows two earlier initiatives by Mewar Bachao Manch — “Udaipur Ka Paisa Udaipur Mein” and “Vyapari 2.0 Ka Vaada, Daam Kam, Samman Zyada.”

More Than 1,000 People Reached Through Awareness Sessions

Mewar Bachao Manch Founder-President Abhishek Pandey said that as part of the campaign, 10 to 12 awareness sessions have been conducted at organisations including the Lions Club, Art of Living, University Morning Yoga Club, schools and various social institutions.

According to him, more than 1,000 people have been directly educated about cyber crime and preventive measures. During the sessions, real-life examples of cyber fraud were shared to explain how greed, fear, emotional vulnerability and lack of awareness are often exploited by cyber criminals.

Participants were encouraged to develop the habit of verifying information before clicking unknown links, responding to fake investment offers, lottery messages, OTP requests, QR codes or pressure for instant payments.

Campaign Gains Strong Digital Reach

As cyber crimes primarily occur through digital platforms, the campaign has also been launched online, where it has received significant public attention in Udaipur.

According to the organisers, the campaign has been viewed by nearly 10 lakh people on social media and digital platforms, while its message has effectively reached around 2 lakh people.

Safety Tips Shared With Citizens

Abhishek Pandey also highlighted several important cyber safety practices. These include never sharing OTPs, PINs or passwords with anyone, verifying every link before clicking, enabling two-step authentication, downloading only official applications, using strong passwords and avoiding scanning unknown QR codes.

Participants Appreciate the Initiative

Siddharth Pandey of Art of Living said the awareness session completely changed his perspective on cyber crime and online safety. He said that by making small changes in daily digital habits, people can protect themselves from cyber fraud and also spread awareness among their family members and others.

Deepak Wahi, President of Lions City Club, said that effectively combating cyber crime begins with strengthening basic online habits and following essential safety precautions. He added that strong fundamentals remain the best defence against cyber threats.

The organisers said the awareness campaign will continue over the long term to educate and reach as many people as possible.
