Hindustan Zinc Reports Record Quarterly Profit of ₹11,881 Crore in Q2 FY27, Up 142% Year-on-Year

Udaipur, October 19, 2026: Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and one of the world’s top 10 silver producers, has reported a record financial and operational performance for the second quarter of FY27. The company recorded its highest-ever quarterly revenue from operations of ₹15,093 crore, marking a 77% year-on-year increase, while quarterly EBITDA reached a record ₹9,285 crore, up 108%. Net profit for the quarter stood at ₹11,881 crore, an increase of 142% year-on-year.

The performance was supported by record second-quarter mined metal production of 271 kilotonnes (KT), refined metal production of 264 KT and a reduction in zinc production costs to US$703 per tonne, excluding royalty. Silver production during the quarter stood at 173 tonnes, registering 20% year-on-year growth and making a significant contribution to profitability.

Record EBITDA and Strong Cash Flow

For the half-year ended September 30, 2026, Hindustan Zinc reported its highest-ever EBITDA of ₹17,359 crore, representing a 108% year-on-year increase. The company also reported a record net profit of ₹11,881 crore and achieved an industry-leading EBITDA margin of 60%.

Free cash flow before growth capital expenditure stood at ₹6,389 crore during the quarter. The strong cash generation further strengthened the company’s position as a globally competitive, low-cost zinc producer.

The combination of higher production, lower zinc production costs and increased silver output contributed to the company’s record quarterly performance.

Expansion into Critical Minerals

During the quarter, Hindustan Zinc received a Letter of Intent (LoI) for the Gundlupet Rare Earth Element and Yttrium Block in Karnataka. The development is expected to support the company’s diversification into critical minerals.

The move represents progress in broadening the company’s mineral portfolio beyond its established zinc and silver operations.

Renewable Energy Share Rises to 27%

Hindustan Zinc continued to increase the use of renewable energy in its operations. Renewable sources accounted for 27% of the company’s total electricity consumption during the quarter.

The company’s zinc alloy plant is now sourcing 100% of its electricity requirements from renewable energy, according to the company.

CEO Highlights Operational Strength and Innovation

Commenting on the performance, Hindustan Zinc Chief Executive Officer Amarendu Prakash said it was an honour to lead the company during a decisive period.

He said the record mined metal production of 271 KT and refined metal production of 264 KT reflected the strength of the company’s operations, assets and workforce.

Prakash added that the company remained focused on disciplined growth, AI-driven innovation and expanding its critical minerals portfolio to support the energy transition while creating long-term value for stakeholders.

Hindustan Zinc’s latest results highlight its strong quarterly production, profitability and cash generation, alongside its efforts to expand into critical minerals and increase the use of renewable energy.
