Udaipur : To control traffic and reduce the risk of accidents involving heavy vehicles, District Magistrate Arvind Kumar Poswal has issued a notification regarding the entry of heavy vehicles into the city.
The Collector explained that due to the expansion of residential colonies around the old bypass from Balicha intersection to Bhuwana intersection via Pratap Nagar intersection, Chitrakoot Nagar, and Debari intersection, the traffic on this route has increased. This has raised the chances of accidents due to the movement of heavy vehicles. Currently, the new six-lane National Highway 76 bypass from Kaya to Debari is complete and operational, as is the four-lane National Highway 27 bypass from Amberi to Debari.
Using the powers granted under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and Rule 8.1 of the Rajasthan Motor Vehicles Rules 1990, the Collector has imposed regulations on heavy vehicles with a load capacity of 2.5 metric tons or more. These vehicles are restricted from using the routes from Kaya to Amberi via Balicha intersection, Pratap Nagar intersection, Chitrakoot Nagar, Bhuwana intersection, and Debari intersection to Pratap Nagar intersection from 7 AM to 9 PM. However, heavy vehicles that need to enter Udaipur city will still be allowed during this restricted period.
This notification is effective immediately and will remain in force for one month from the date of issuance.
