Udaipur, April 24 (Udaipur Kiran): A clash broke out inside Udaipur Central Jail where inmates allegedly assaulted jail guards during a routine search operation on Thursday.
A case was registered on Friday at Surajpol Police Station following a complaint by Jail Deputy Superintendent Mohan Meena.
Station House Officer Ratan Singh said the incident occurred when prison staff were conducting a routine frisking of inmates. An argument broke out, which escalated into a physical altercation, leading to minor injuries to several jail personnel.
According to the report, inmates identified as Sahil Ali, Jitendra Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Vikram Kumar and Ram Hari allegedly attacked the guards during the checking process.
Those injured include Chief Guard Yogesh Kumar and jail guards Rohitash Jat, Sawarmal and Shivcharan Singh.
Jail staff managed to bring the situation under control after a struggle. Police have registered a case against the accused inmates for obstructing government duty and further investigation is underway.
The incident occurred during intensified checking inside the jail following complaints about the presence of mobile phones and other prohibited items.
