Udhampur, September 11: In an ongoing operation in the upper reaches of Basantgarh in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, the Army has killed two terrorists linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) organization. Security forces recovered various weapons, including an M4 rifle, AK rifle, and a pistol, from the slain terrorists.
The Army has said that there is a possibility of another terrorist being trapped in the ongoing operation at Khandar Top, and efforts are underway to eliminate him. They further stated that the operation was jointly launched by the Army’s 1st Para and the police, and the first contact with the terrorists was established around 12:50 pm.
It’s worth noting that this was the first successful operation against terrorists in the dense forest where more than half a dozen encounters have taken place in the past six months. In these previous encounters, a village defense guard was martyred on April 28, and a CRPF inspector lost his life on August 19.
