Temperature Drops in South Bengal, Rain Likely in North Bengal

Kolkata, March 4 – The weather in West Bengal continues to surprise residents as fluctuating temperatures mark the month of Phalgun. While afternoons bring a sense of summer heat, evenings remain pleasant, offering a contrast in weather patterns.

According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, temperature variations will continue throughout the week. South Bengal has already recorded a slight dip in both daytime and nighttime temperatures, with forecasts suggesting a further 2-3°C drop in the next two days. However, by the end of the week, temperatures are expected to rise again.

The weather in South Bengal is expected to remain clear, with no immediate chances of rainfall. Residents can expect comfortable conditions despite the occasional heat during the day.

  • Kolkata’s temperature forecast:
    • Minimum temperature could drop to 20°C.
    • Maximum temperature likely to hover around 30°C.
    • Tuesday’s recorded temperatures:
      • Minimum: 22.7°C
      • Maximum: 32.2°C
    • Humidity levels range between 32% and 89%, leading to slight discomfort due to stickiness.

Rain Expected in North Bengal

Meanwhile, North Bengal’s hill regions are set to experience continuous rainfall this week.

  • Rainfall forecast for Darjeeling and Kalimpong:
    • Light showers and thunderstorms expected on Tuesday and Wednesday.
    • Intense rainfall predicted for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • Other affected districts:
    • Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri are also expected to receive light rainfall.

Despite the rainfall activity, the overall temperature in North Bengal is not expected to change significantly. Weather conditions will remain stable for the next four to five days.

With temperature fluctuations across the state, residents should be prepared for a mix of warm, pleasant, and rainy weather in different regions of West Bengal.
