Hyderabad, August 11: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to expedite the work on the Old City Metro project under the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-2. During a review meeting with senior officials of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), the Chief Minister emphasized the need for swift completion of road widening from MGBS (Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station) to Chandrayangutta, spanning 7.5 kilometers, and instructed to initiate the tender process for metro construction on this corridor.
The Chief Minister also inquired about the status of pending land acquisition and urged officials to finalize plans for the metro expansion promptly. Noting the increasing number of passengers using the Hyderabad Metro, he stressed the importance of taking appropriate measures to manage the passenger load by adding additional coaches and directed the procurement of necessary extra metro coaches.
Regarding the 7.5-kilometer corridor from MGBS to Chandrayangutta under Phase-2, the Chief Minister advised officials to consult with the Delhi Metro for selecting suitable technology.
During the meeting, preparations for the proposed ‘Invest Telangana Global Summit’ scheduled for December were also reviewed. Discussions included arrangements for the event and plans to honor prominent figures from various business sectors. Chief Minister Reddy insisted that the summit be organized according to international standards to attract global investment to Telangana.
He instructed officials to present a detailed report on the investments received and progress made since the summit held last year. The Chief Minister also called for the development of new plans to achieve better results in attracting investments.
The meeting was attended by key officials including State Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Government Advisor Ramakrishna Rao, Metro Rail Managing Director Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Additional Managing Director Ajit Reddy, among others.
