Purnia, August 10: A shocking incident has emerged from Purnia where a husband allegedly shot his wife, a school teacher, following a domestic dispute on Sunday. The accused husband has since fled the scene, and police are conducting searches to apprehend him.
The incident took place in Renu Nagar, located on College Road in Purnia. The victim has been identified as Shalini Kumari, who was employed as a teacher at a Plus Two school in Srinagar. The accused, Rajkumar Yadav, is reported to be a manager at a cooperative bank in Madhubani.
According to local residents, a heated argument broke out between the couple on Sunday morning. During the altercation, Rajkumar allegedly shot Shalini. Neighbors rushed to the house upon hearing the gunshot, only to find Shalini lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Despite efforts to rush her to the hospital, she was declared dead upon arrival.
The police from the Sadar station arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the report and sealed the area. The body has been sent to Purnia Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination. Initial investigations suggest that the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute, and authorities are looking into whether there were any other underlying reasons for the murder.
Following the incident, Rajkumar fled the scene, prompting police to begin raids at potential hideouts. Evidence has been collected from the crime scene, and inquiries are being made with nearby residents.
The daylight shooting of a teacher has created an atmosphere of fear in Renu Nagar and surrounding areas. The victim’s family is in shock, with Kumar Gauri Shankar, a relative, expressing disbelief over the incident. He stated, “We do not understand what happened at home. Shalini was a very good person. The accused should receive the harshest punishment.”
Meanwhile, Rajesh Yadav, a representative of MP Pappu Yadav, condemned the incident, calling it “extremely unfortunate.” He emphasized that the murder of a teacher is a shameful act for society and urged the police to apprehend the accused swiftly and conduct a fair investigation.
