Talent Hunt Swimming Events from March 9 in Udaipur

Udaipur, March 7 (Udaipur Kiran): Swimming talents in Udaipur will get a new platform under the Panch Gaurav programme, with block and district-level talent search swimming competitions scheduled from March 9 to March 12.

Talent Hunt

The initiative is being carried out under the guidance of District Collector Namit Mehta as part of the Panch Gaurav programme launched on the initiative of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. Under the “One District–One Sport” concept, swimming has been included for promotion in the district. Through the talent search competitions, promising swimmers will be identified and provided training to prepare them for national and international-level competitions.

District Sports Officer Dr Mahesh Paliwal said that competitions will be organised for aspiring swimmers from March 9 to March 12, 2026, across all Panchayat Samitis of the district as well as at the district headquarters. Talented swimmers will be selected through these competitions and will receive further training to develop their sporting abilities.

He said that selected players from the block and district-level competitions will participate in a 15-day residential training camp from March 13 to March 28, 2026, at the swimming pool of Maharana Pratap Khelgaon in Udaipur. During the camp, players will receive specialised training under the guidance of experienced coaches and physical education teachers from the Education Department.

Participants will also be informed about swimming rules and the standards required for national and international competitions. Arrangements for food, accommodation, sports uniforms, equipment and other necessary resources will be provided to the players during the camp.

After completion of the training, a district-level swimming competition will be held on March 28 and 29, 2026. Swimmers delivering outstanding performances will be awarded prizes and certificates.

District Collector Namit Mehta appealed to children, youth and their parents who are interested in swimming to participate in the talent search. He said swimming is a prominent sport in the Udaipur region and the district has produced several notable swimmers in the past. Through the talent search initiative, efforts are being made to identify and nurture new talent.
