SYDNEY : New Zealand defeated Australia by 89 runs in the first match of the Super 12 leg of the T20 World Cup. In this match, New Zealand scored 200 for 3 in 20 overs, thanks to the excellent unbeaten half-century (92) of opener Devon Conway. In response, the Australian team was reduced to 111 runs in 17.1 overs.
Chasing a big target of 201 runs, the Australian team did not appear in the match from the beginning and its batsmen were shattered under the pressure of big scores. For Australia, only Glenn Maxwell could struggle a bit and scored 28 runs. While Pat Cummins scored 21 runs.
For New Zealand, Team Southee and Mitchell Santner took 3-3, Trait Boult 2 and Lockie Ferguson and Ish Sodhi took 1-1 wickets.

After this, captain Kane Williamson and Conway took the team’s score beyond 100. Adam Zampa dismissed Williamson for a total of 125 in the 13th over, giving New Zealand a second blow. Williamson scored 23 runs in 23 balls. On a total of 152, Hazlewood sent Glenn Phillips to the pavilion, taking his second wicket of the match. Phillips scored 12 runs. After this, Conway (92) and Neesham (26) did not allow any further damage and took the team to the score of 200 for 3 in 20 overs.
