Udaipur, July 20: In response to continuous and substantial rainfall across the region, the water levels in Udaipur’s lakes have significantly risen, prompting controlled water release from Swaroop Sagar. On Sunday evening at 7:15 PM, the Water Resources Department opened four gates of Swaroop Sagar Dam, each by 3 inches, after Pichola Lake reached its full capacity.

As a result of the gate opening, Ayad River has begun receiving water flow, helping regulate water levels in the city’s interconnected lake system.
238.2 Cusecs Water Released to Maintain Safe Levels
According to Mahesh Choudhary, Executive Engineer, Water Resources Department, a total discharge of 238.2 cusecs of water is being carried out through the four partially opened gates. The step has been taken as a precautionary and regulatory measure to manage the lake’s water levels and prevent overflow risks in adjoining areas.
Before the gates were opened, warning sirens were sounded to alert nearby residents, ensuring public safety and avoiding any loss to life or property in the downstream flow zones.
