NASA Announces Final Schedule for Sunita Williams’ Homecoming
After spending over nine months aboard the International Space Station (ISS), Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams is finally set to return to Earth. NASA has officially announced that Williams and her fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore will land on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
Initially, their return was scheduled for Wednesday, but due to favorable weather conditions, NASA has decided to advance the landing schedule. The SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft has already reached the ISS, paving the way for their safe return.

As per NASA’s latest update, the Crew Dragon capsule carrying Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore will make a marine splashdown at 5:57 PM ET on March 18.

NASA to Broadcast Live Coverage of Sunita Williams’ Return
NASA has announced a live telecast of the Crew-9 mission’s return from the ISS. The broadcast will begin on March 17 at 10:45 PM ET (India time: March 18 at 8:30 AM IST).

Mission That Was Supposed to Last 7 Days Stretched to 9 Months
Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore initially launched aboard the Boeing Starliner spacecraft in June 2024 for what was planned to be a seven-day mission. However, due to technical issues with the spacecraft, their return was repeatedly delayed.
Concerns over their extended stay in space and its impact on their health were widely discussed, but NASA has confirmed that both astronauts are in good health and ready for their return to Earth.
