Student Kidnapped for Ransom in Jaipur
Jaipur, October 25: A shocking incident has emerged in Jaipur where a BBA student from Maharashtra was kidnapped, assaulted, and held for ransom. The police from Pratap Nagar successfully rescued the student after conducting a raid in Haryana’s Bhiwani district, arresting two suspects in the process. According to DCP (East) Ranjita Sharma, the arrested individuals, Naveen (24) and Bhagirath alias Mangal (28), are both residents of Bhiwani. Naveen has two prior assault cases registered against him at the Tosham police station, while Bhagirath has cases registered in Tosham and Rajgarh in Churu.
The victim, Neel Kishore Ghetia from Nashik, was studying BBA in Jaipur and was also involved in USDT trading for extra income. He met a local resident named Rajat through Telegram, who managed a USDT panel. Following Rajat’s invitation, Neel arrived at Jaipur Railway Station on October 5, where he was taken to an apartment where Naveen was also present.
According to police reports, Naveen had given Neel seven lakh rupees to purchase USDT. However, when the transaction did not go through as planned, Naveen demanded the money back, leading to a dispute. Frustrated by the situation, the suspects locked Neel in a room at the apartment and assaulted him for several days. On the night of October 15, they forcibly transported him in an SUV to Isarwal village in Bhiwani, where he was again held captive and tortured.
The suspects allegedly contacted Neel’s father via WhatsApp, demanding a ransom of seven lakh rupees for his release, threatening to kill him if the money was not paid, which heightened the family’s distress.
In response to the gravity of the situation, the Pratap Nagar police initiated an investigation. Based on technical inputs and mobile location tracking, they conducted a raid in Bhiwani, successfully rescuing the student and apprehending Naveen and Bhagirath. The police are currently interrogating the suspects and exploring other aspects of the case.
