A strong western disturbance is becoming active over RAJASTHAN, leading to a change in weather conditions across the state. Starting Saturday, Jaipur and various other regions are expected to experience rainfall and hail over the next three days.
This is the third time in January that a western disturbance has become active. On Friday night, temperatures dropped below 5 degrees Celsius in Mount Abu and Sirohi, with Mount Abu recording the coldest night at 4.8 degrees. In total, 23 cities across the state recorded night temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.
Dense fog was observed in Jaipur and several other cities on Friday, reducing visibility to between 40 and 100 meters. According to the Meteorological Department, Ajmer, Wansthali, Bhilwara, Alwar, Pilani, Sikar, Kota, Chittorgarh, Dabok, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Churu, Sri Ganganagar, Nagaur, Baran, Jalore, Fatehpur, Karauli, Dausa, Lunkaransar, Pratapgarh, Jhunjhunu, and Pali also recorded night temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.
Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Centre Jaipur, stated that the weather remained dry on Friday, with moderate to dense fog in some areas. A new strong western disturbance is expected to be active from January 31 to February 2. Due to this, light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely on January 31 in Ajmer, Kota, Jaipur, Bharatpur divisions, and Shekhawati region districts.
On February 1 and 2, northern and eastern Rajasthan including Ajmer, Kota, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions may continue to experience light to moderate rain and thundershowers. Meanwhile, most parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions are expected to remain dry during this period.
On Friday, sunshine in Jaipur provided slight relief from the intense cold, with daytime temperatures rising by 1.6 degrees and nighttime temperatures by 1.5 degrees. However, dense fog was still present in rural areas around Jaipur, lowering visibility to below 100 meters in neighborhoods such as Pratap Nagar, Vatika, Goner, and Jagatpura.
The influence of the western disturbance is likely to bring noticeable changes to Jaipur’s weather in the coming days, including chances of rainfall.
