Agra, October 25 (Udaipur Kiran): A tragic accident late Friday night in Nagla Puri, under the New Agra police station area, claimed the lives of five people and left two others seriously injured after a speeding Tata Nexon car lost control and rammed into people sitting outside a house.
According to police reports, a family in Nagla Puri had gathered to mourn the death of a relative who had passed away on Thursday. Around 10 PM on Friday, a speeding Tata Nexon allegedly went out of control and ran over several people sitting outside the house. Five people died on the spot, while two others sustained severe injuries. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where their condition remains critical.
Police said the identities of the deceased have not yet been officially released.
Upon receiving information, officers from New Agra Police Station reached the spot immediately. Angry local residents surrounded the car and attempted to catch the driver, but police intervened and safely took the accused into custody. A large police force was deployed at the site to maintain law and order, and rescue operations were carried out promptly.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident occurred due to reckless driving and overspeeding. Police have detained the driver and launched a formal investigation into the incident.
Authorities confirmed that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and the injured are undergoing treatment. The horrific crash has left the entire area in shock and mourning, with residents demanding stricter road safety enforcement to prevent such incidents in the future.
