Mumbai, February 16: The romantic action film ‘O Romeo’, featuring Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri, has managed to win the hearts of fans, as evidenced by its box office response and earnings.
Although the film had a slow start on its release day, audience numbers saw a significant increase over the weekend, leading to a notable rise in collections. As a result, ‘O Romeo’ has grossed over ₹35 crores so far.
Released on February 13, ‘O Romeo’ earned ₹35.51 crores in its first week, indicating a solid start for the film. The earnings for the first week were average, with ₹9 crores on the opening day, ₹14.50 crores on Saturday, and ₹11 crores on Sunday. The collection on Sunday was significantly influenced by Mahashivratri and the India-Pakistan cricket match.
Given these factors, the weekend proved beneficial for the film, and it is expected that collections may increase further this week. Additionally, ‘O Romeo’ has become one of the films with the second-lowest opening for the actor in the past seven years.
Despite a good weekend, the opening day earnings were considerably lower compared to other films. For instance, the actor’s film “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,” released on February 9, 2024, collected over ₹13 crores on its first day. The 2022 film “Jersey,” which was a flop, earned ₹4 crores on its opening day, while the 2019 blockbuster ‘Kabir Singh’ set new benchmarks with a ₹20 crore collection on its first day. It remains to be seen how much ‘O Romeo’ can earn this week with its average start.
To boost earnings, the makers have introduced a new offer where purchasing one ticket will get you another for free, although bookings must be made through BookMyShow. The film is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, featuring veteran actors Nana Patekar and Farida Jalal, although their screen time is limited.
