Seven Indians abducted by armed men in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, unidentified armed men abducted seven Indians and one Afghan employee of an Indian infrastructure company in Baghlan province on Sunday.

They were abducted while travelling to the area, where the company owns an electricity sub-station contract. Baghlan provincial council has linked the incident to the Taliban.

No group has claimed responsibility for the abduction so far.

Responding to the reports of abduction, India has said that it is aware of the abduction of Indian nationals from Baghlan province and that the Indian government is in touch with Afghan authorities.

Meanwhile, Afghan Foreign Minister spoke with External Affairs Minister Susma Swaraj, in connection with the kidnapping of Indian engineers. He assured her that the Afghan security forces are taking all the necessary measures to rescue the abducted engineers.
