Samsung has mentioned the launch of the “new premium model” of the Galaxy Watch and also announced the launch of the Galaxy Ring

Samsung recently announced plans to expand its wearable ecosystem this year and dropped a big hint about launching a new premium model of its smartwatch.

The company announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2024 (January to March) on Tuesday and also announced its plans for the next quarter and the rest of the year. In the Mobile Experience (MX) business, new Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring models are expected to launch later this year. The South Korean tech giant also plans to integrate Galaxy AI into new and existing flagship devices.

In a Newsroom post, Samsung announced its quarterly revenue, reporting significant quarter-on-quarter growth due to strong sales of its flagship Galaxy S24 smartphone. The tech giant reported an operating profit of 6.61 trillion won (around Rs 37,000 crore) for the quarter. The company also said the increase in profits was due to higher revenue from the MX business.

In addition to the sales figures, the company also discussed its plans for the next quarter and the rest of the year. Notably, Samsung has emphasized that it plans to expand its wearable ecosystem. One way to achieve this is by introducing new form factors like the Galaxy Ring. The device was recently unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, but there is no information about the release date. However, the note emphasizes that the Galaxy Ring could launch later this year. Previous reports said mass production could begin in the third quarter of this year.

The second way for Samsung to expand this segment is to introduce new premium models of smartwatches. This is interesting considering the company currently has two smartwatches on the market: the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. Of course, other models may also be introduced this year. According to a report from SamMobile, Samsung could launch a new square or rectangular smartwatch.

This isn’t a new move either, as the company previously offered square-shaped smartwatches with the now-discontinued Galaxy Gear series. There are also rumors that the company may launch another smartwatch called “Pro” or “Ultra” with additional features available on the new rectangular watch face.
