Russia 2018: Germany prepares for World Cup defence

Currently, Germany is ranked number one in the FIFA World football rankings. Coach Joachim Low has been associated with the German national team since 2006 and has been the longest serving national team coach in Europe. Germany have set their sights firmly on a title defence with Low saying they will be the hunted ones

There is only one thing on Germany’s mind going into the World Cup and that is to defend their title and become the first team in more than half a century to do so.

The Germans have lost just once in 23 games since their Euro 2016 semi-final defeat, cruising through the qualifiers with 10 wins in 10 matches and conceding just four goals in the process to advance to the World Cup.  Germany are in Group F with South Korea, Mexico and Sweden.

Take a look on others aspects of German football team:-

Low has been Germany coach since 2006, having previously served as assistant to Jurgen Klinsmann. He has led the team to tremendous success during his decade-plus in charge, lifting the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and winning the FIFA Confederations Cup with a youthful side in 2017. Coach Joachim Low also had the luxury of being able to field a second-string team at last year’s Confederations Cup and still come away with the title, further adding to an already deep German bench.

The coach has a pool of at least three dozen players to chose from before his Group F campaign against Mexico, Sweden and South Korea.

A core of 2014 World Cup winners, including Thomas Mueller, Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng, Sami Khedira, Toni Kroos and Mesut Ozil, will form the team’s experienced backbone. There are still some question marks regarding the fitness of World Cup-winning keeper Manuel Neuer, who missed the season due to a foot injury and only recently returned to training.

20 appearances are what Germany boast of at the highest level of world football. Germany is one of the most successful teams in the World Cup, reaching the quarterfinals all but on one occasion. Currently, Germany is ranked number one in the FIFA World football rankings.

As Germany began their campaign for Russia 2018, they made their intentions clear from the outright and went on to stamp their dominance till the end. All ten games of the campaign were wins and finished off the campaign with one short of a positive 40 goal difference.
