Rs 10 lakh fraud by downloading AnyDesk software

Udaipur : A case of online fraud worth over ₹10 lakh has been reported in Kun (Salumber). The accused sent a link to AnyDesk software to the victim. As soon as the victim downloaded the software, the accused withdrew money from the victim’s account. The incident took place in Kun, a town in the Salumber district of Rajasthan.

Police Station Officer Praveen Singh Shaktawat said that the victim received a call from a man named Vijay Kumar from Maharashtra. The caller claimed that the victim’s credit card would be closed if it was not used. The victim said that he did not use the credit card and therefore wanted to close it.

The fraudster sent the victim a link to AnyDesk software and asked him to download it. After downloading the software, the victim filled in his name, address, and other details in the software. After filling in the details, he received a call. As soon as he answered the call, his phone hung up and the accused downloaded all the data from his phone. The accused then withdrew ₹10,70,692 in 10 installments from the victim’s bank account.

The victim has lodged a complaint at Salumbar police station. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
