New Delhi, October 20 (Udaipur Kiran): India captain Rohit Sharma has expressed strong confidence that young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will go on to become a great player across all formats of the game. Reddy made his ODI debut during the first match against Australia in Perth, where he received his debut cap from Rohit.

Presenting Cap No. 260, Rohit praised the 22-year-old’s attitude, work ethic, and natural style of play.
In a video shared by the BCCI, Rohit said,
“Cap number 260 — Nitish Reddy, welcome to this club. You’ve started your career really well. I’m 110% sure that with this attitude, you’ll go a long way in Indian cricket.”
He added,
“I have complete faith that you will become a great player in all formats. As you said in your speech, you want to be everywhere — and we all want you to be there too. Everyone here will support you and help you make your career outstanding.”
In his debut innings, Nitish Reddy remained unbeaten on 19 runs off 11 balls, hitting two sixes. With the ball, he bowled 2.1 overs, conceding 16 runs without taking a wicket.
The rain-affected match at Perth Stadium saw India score 136/9 in 26 overs, with KL Rahul top-scoring with 38 runs. In reply, Australia chased down the target comfortably in 21.1 overs, winning by seven wickets. Mitchell Marsh led from the front with an unbeaten 46 off 52 balls, while Josh Philippe added 37 runs.
With this victory, Australia took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The next two games will be played on October 23 and 25, where India will look to level the series.
