Rohit Sharma and Wasim Akram Embrace Before T20 World Cup Clash

Colombo, February 16: An exciting match between the Indian cricket team and Pakistan took place on Sunday at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. India emerged victorious, winning the match by 61 runs, marking their record against Pakistan in T20 World Cup history at 8-1.

Before the match, a heartwarming moment unfolded that won the hearts of millions of cricket fans from both nations. Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma was announced as the brand ambassador for the T20 World Cup 2026 by the ICC. Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram joined the ICC commentary team. The ICC entrusted Rohit and Akram with the responsibility of carrying the T20 trophy before the match, during which they were seen embracing and shaking hands.

Witnessing these two cricket legends from India and Pakistan share such a moment was a soothing sight for millions of fans across both countries.

Rohit Sharma was also seen interacting with the Indian team players before the match, boosting their confidence. During the game, he was seated alongside ICC President Jay Shah.
