Bhadrachalam, September 27 (Udaipur Kiran) : Heavy rainfall in Bhadrachalam, Telangana, has led to a significant rise in the water level of the Godavari River. Officials reported on Sunday that the river’s level surged past 40 feet, up from just 17 feet two days earlier. The increase was particularly notable from Saturday evening when it rose to 25 feet.
As the water continues to flow in from upstream, irrigation department officials warned that the levels could rise further. Should the water reach 43 feet, the administration will issue an initial flood warning. Many steps leading to bathing ghats in Bhadrachalam are already submerged.
In Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district, the Vamsadhara River remains swollen, although water levels in the Nagavali River have begun to recede. Flooding intensified in both rivers due to heavy rains and inflow from other sources, prompting the district administration to issue a second flood warning for the Narayanpuram Anicut on September 25. Local authorities have advised residents in villages along the rivers to stay alert.
