Udaipur : Some 46 varieties of unique, hybrid and special desi mangoes would be put to display during the three days mango festival that is scheduled to be held at Kushalbagh ground of Banswara city from June 7 onwards. The event which is first in the state, is a joint venture of the district administration, Agriculture Research Center and Banswara tourism development committee.
The festival would showcase the 46 varieties that are found and grown in Banswara region including KishanBhog, Mallika, Kesar, Bajrang, Himsagar, Mulago, Jardalu, Rataul, Aamrapali, Langda, Chausar etc. Collector Ashish Gupta said ” the exhibition at the festival also would offer sale of processed mango items including products like pickles, jam, chutney, mango pulp, juice, jelly, aam pak and aam panna etc. A special folder has been prepared under the supervision of assistant director, public relations department Kamlesh Sharma which would carry pictures and specifications of all the 46 varieties and their health benefits.
Summers and mangoes goes hand in hand and this would be the best way to make the sweltering heat lusciously endurable for the people, the collector said. Another attraction would be the stall selling AamPak from one of the oldest and popular sweet makers of the city. The firm have been functional for 90 years now which specializes in Aam Pak. The sweet is quite popular not only among the locals but tourists and communities that send it to their relatives settled in gulf countries.
