Rajasthan Weather Update: March Heatwave Intensifies as Temperatures Cross 41°C, Rain Likely by March 27
March 25, 2025 | Jaipur : Rajasthan is witnessing an early onset of intense summer conditions, with temperatures soaring above 41°C in several districts even before the end of March. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heatwave-like conditions, especially across western Rajasthan, while also forecasting a brief weather change due to an incoming western disturbance.

Barmer Records Highest Temperature at 41.6°C
On Monday, Rajasthan’s Barmer district emerged as the hottest spot, recording a maximum temperature of 41.6°C, with Jalore (40.3°C) and Jaisalmer (40°C) close behind. Other districts also witnessed rising heat levels:
-
Bikaner: 39.4°C
-
Jodhpur: 39.3°C
-
Chittorgarh: 39.2°C
-
Dungarpur: 39°C
-
Kota: 37.3°C
-
Jaipur: 36.9°C
Meteorologists say the heat is due to dry and stagnant atmospheric conditions, combined with clear skies and hot winds across the region.
Western Disturbance to Bring Temporary Relief
According to the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, a new western disturbance is likely to affect parts of Rajasthan between March 26 and 27. This may result in:
-
Cloudy skies over border areas
-
Wind speeds up to 30 km/h
-
Light rainfall in isolated locations
-
2–3°C drop in daytime temperatures
While this may briefly reduce the intensity of heat, the overall weather is expected to remain dry and hot for most of the week.
Extended Dry Spell Forecast
Looking ahead, the IMD forecasts dry conditions across most of Rajasthan for the next 7 days, except in select western districts that may experience light showers and gusty winds. Residents are advised to:
-
Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially during 12 PM to 4 PM
-
Stay hydrated and take protective measures against heatstroke
-
Keep an eye on daily weather updates, especially if traveling through Barmer, Jaisalmer, or Bikaner
