Jaipur, December 26: Rajasthan is set to experience three days of rainfall and hailstorms starting today, December 26, with the effects expected to last until December 28. A yellow alert has been issued for rain and hailstorms across Jaipur and 18 other districts today, while an orange alert has been announced for seven districts on December 27. Rainfall will extend to 23 districts, including Jaipur, on December 28.
During this period, cold wave conditions are anticipated, with daytime temperatures expected to dip below 20°C. Post-December 28, dense fog and chilly northern winds will dominate, leading to further drops in minimum temperatures across the state.
Fog Reduces Visibility Across Several Districts
Thursday morning witnessed dense fog in districts like Sikar, Sawai Madhopur, and Kota. Visibility ranged between 30 to 50 meters, severely impacting vehicular movement. In Fatehpur Shekhawati, visibility dropped to less than 40 meters, causing drivers to rely on headlights during the morning commute. Fatehpur recorded a minimum temperature of 3.5°C today.
Impact of the Cyclonic System
According to Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Center, an induced cyclonic system has become active over southeastern Rajasthan, bringing widespread rain to the state starting today. The system’s peak impact will be felt on December 27, with cloudy skies and light to moderate rainfall across 29 districts. Some areas in Jaipur and Ajmer divisions may also witness hailstorms.
The system will dissipate by December 28, paving the way for cold northern winds that will significantly lower night temperatures. Many cities are expected to record minimum temperatures of 5°C or lower.
District-Specific Alerts
- Sawai Madhopur: Visibility dropped to 50 meters due to dense fog this morning. The district recorded a maximum temperature of 23°C and a minimum of 13°C on Wednesday. A yellow alert for rainfall has been issued for today.
- Statewide Temperatures: On December 25, maximum temperatures remained below 24°C across the state. Sikar, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Churu, Ganganagar, and Mount Abu reported maximum temperatures below 20°C. Barmer recorded the highest temperature in the state at 23.4°C.
