Udaipur, May 8 (Udaipur Kiran): Acting on the directions of Excise Commissioner Namit Mehta, the Excise Department has intensified its special enforcement campaign against the illegal manufacture, storage, transportation and sale of liquor across Rajasthan. Under the ongoing drive, officials carried out barricading, patrolling and raid operations in several districts and registered multiple cases after seizing illegal liquor and destroying large quantities of wash.
According to the department, from May 1 to May 7, 2026, a total of 787 cases were registered during the campaign and 252 persons were arrested. Officials seized 3,525 litres of country liquor worth Rs 9.45 lakh, 841 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth Rs 8.39 lakh, 1,393 litres of beer worth Rs 3.75 lakh and 4,750 litres of illicit liquor.
During the operations, authorities also destroyed 1,77,217 litres of wash used in illegal liquor production. A total of 21 vehicles, including eight heavy vehicles, two light four-wheelers and 11 two-wheelers, were seized during the campaign.
In Chittorgarh, the EPF team conducted a raid on shops located at Rati Mangri on National Highway-48 following a tip-off and recovered 1,600 litres of spirit stored in eight plastic drums. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
In Jodhpur’s Luni, Pipad and Osian areas, officials arrested an accused involved in transporting illegal liquor on a motorcycle. Two cases were registered by EPF teams.
Joint raids were also conducted in Bharatpur and Deeg in areas including Sikri, Gopalgarh, Satwadi, Gulpada and the sensitive Chhapar Mohalla area of Kumher. Officials seized 76 quarter bottles of English liquor, 75 quarter bottles of country liquor and 68 litres of illicit liquor. Two absconding accused were also arrested.
In Bhiwadi’s Genesis Mall, officials raided the Sky Bar and recovered three bottles of liquor marked “Sale in Haryana Only” along with 49 bottles of beer. A case was registered in connection with the seizure.
In Jhalawar’s Chaumahla area, officials destroyed 10,000 litres of wash near Sujanpur Talab and seized 110 litres of illicit liquor during a joint operation. Two cases were registered on the spot.
The Excise Department said enforcement teams across all districts are continuing intensive patrolling and raid operations under the state government’s zero-tolerance policy against illegal liquor activities.
