Jaipur : Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday.

“Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the IPL 2024 match against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 10,” the league said in a release on Thursday. “Since this was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Samson has been fined Rs 12 lakh.”
Talking about the match, Rajasthan, batting first, scored 196 for 3 in 20 overs thanks to half-centuries from skipper Sanju Samson (68 not out off 38 balls, 7 fours and 2 sixes) and Riyan Parag (76 off 48 balls, 3 fours and 5 sixes).
In reply, Gujarat won the match by scoring 199 for 7 in 20 overs. Gujarat needed 15 runs in the last over and all-rounder Rashid Khan scored the required runs with a brilliant batting display, hitting a four on the last ball to give his team victory. Rashid remained unbeaten on 24 off 11 balls. Apart from Rashid, captain Shubman Gill played a brilliant innings of 72 runs.
