Delhi, March 28 (Udaipur Kiran): Weather conditions are set to remain unstable across several parts of the country, with rain and thunderstorms expected to intensify over the next 24 hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for rainfall in 11 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, and Haryana. Strong winds, thunderstorms, hail, and lightning are also likely in some regions, prompting advisories for farmers to remain cautious.

Rain and Storm Warning for Delhi, UP
According to IMD, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are likely to witness spells of rain between March 28 and March 30, accompanied by gusty winds and possible dust storms. On Friday, Delhi recorded its warmest morning of the year, although light showers were observed in parts of the city later in the day. The maximum temperature was recorded at 32.6 degrees Celsius.
Officials said the unusual weather pattern in March is linked to a series of active western disturbances affecting northwest India since March 15. These systems are moving at a lower altitude than usual, resulting in a stronger impact on regional weather. Light rain, gusty winds, and dusty conditions may continue in parts of Delhi, though no major impact on temperatures is expected.
Weather Outlook for Uttar Pradesh
The IMD reported light rainfall in several districts of Uttar Pradesh on Friday due to the active western disturbance. A more active spell of rainfall is expected across the state between March 29 and April 1.
Before the next system intensifies, maximum temperatures may rise by 3 to 6 degrees Celsius on March 28 and 29. A drop in temperature is likely again once the next western disturbance becomes active.
In Lucknow, partly cloudy skies with generally clear weather are expected on March 28. The maximum temperature may hover around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum could be around 18 degrees Celsius. No warning has been issued for the state during this brief dry phase.
Punjab, Haryana to See Rain, Strong Winds
Punjab and Haryana are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall on March 29 and 30. Wind speeds may range between 30 to 40 kmph. Chandigarh is also expected to witness moderate rainfall during this period. Eastern Rajasthan has been placed under alert for thunderstorms and rain.
Snowfall Likely in Hilly Regions
The IMD has forecast snowfall in higher reaches of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Other areas in these states may receive light to moderate rainfall.
On March 30, light rain is also expected in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad, with chances of snowfall in some regions.
