Rain Lashes Seven Districts in Tamil Nadu; Yellow Alert Issued for Four

Chennai, November 8 (Udaipur Kiran) — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall in several parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from November 8 to November 13, owing to the formation of a low-pressure area over South India. A Yellow Alert has been issued for four districtsKanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, and Thoothukudi — indicating the likelihood of moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.

According to IMD officials, as of 11 a.m. today, rainfall has already been recorded in seven districts where showers were forecast. These include Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Tenkasi, Tiruvallur, and Chennai, all witnessing light to moderate rain with occasional thunder and lightning.

The weather office said the intensity of rainfall will vary, with heavier spells likely in interior and coastal areas during the evening and nighttime hours. The southern districts of Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari are expected to receive intense rainfall on Sunday, potentially keeping the region under wet and humid conditions over the next few days.

The IMD has advised residents and local administrations in the affected districts to stay alert and take precautionary measures against possible waterlogging and lightning incidents.
