Bhopal, June 25 — The ongoing spell of monsoon rain continues across Madhya Pradesh, bringing widespread showers to several districts including the capital, Bhopal. On Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heavy rain alert for 16 districts, warning of up to 4.5 inches of rain in the next 24 hours.

Districts under heavy rain alert include: Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Shajapur, Raisen, Dewas, Dhar, Narmadapuram, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Mandla, and Balaghat.
A Yellow Alert is also in place for widespread rain across the state, covering cities like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Jabalpur.
According to IMD officials, two trough systems are currently passing over the region, combined with an active cyclonic circulation system, driving the present weather pattern. The rain is expected to continue for the next four days, with heavy downpours likely in several divisions.
Significant Rainfall Recorded on Tuesday
Many parts of the state received substantial rainfall on Tuesday as well. Ujjain recorded 2.1 inches of rain in just nine hours. Satna received 1 inch, while Narmadapuram, Chhatarpur’s Nowgaon, and Balaghat’s Malajkhand each saw half an inch of rain.
Consistent rainfall was also reported in Bhopal, Betul, Guna, Jabalpur, Rajgarh, Damoh, Mandla, Sagar, Umaria, Shajapur, Agar Malwa, Sehore, Ratlam, Shivpuri, and other districts.
The rains have brought a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures across many cities. The state’s only hill station, Pachmarhi, was the coolest location on Tuesday with a maximum temperature of just 23.2°C.
