Jaipur, 30 December (Udaipur Kiran) – Rajasthan is expected to witness a change in weather as a strong western disturbance becomes active over northern India. This system is likely to bring rain to the state for the next two days amid the ongoing intense cold wave.
According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is forecast in 11 districts of Rajasthan on December 31. On January 1, there is also an alert for light rain accompanied by dense fog in some areas.
On Tuesday morning, dense fog covered Alwar, Bharatpur, Kishangarh in Ajmer, and parts of the Shekhawati region. Visibility dropped to less than 50 meters in several places. Near Alwar’s Bala Quila, the entire city was shrouded in clouds and thick fog, increasing the chill in the air.
Radheyshyam Sharma, Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, said a strong western disturbance system is set to become active. Due to its effects, light rain is expected on December 31 in Bikaner, Jodhpur, Ajmer divisions, and some districts of the Shekhawati region. On January 1, rain activities may occur in parts of Bikaner, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions. From the evening of January 1 onwards, dense fog is likely to persist along with cold winds for several days.
In the past 24 hours, dense fog and cloud cover in the northeastern parts of the state weakened sunlight, causing a significant drop in daytime temperatures. The maximum temperature remained below 20 degrees Celsius in Alwar, Hanumangarh, and Karauli. Karauli was the coldest district with a highest temperature of only 18.5 degrees Celsius.
