Amid scorching summer heat, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for 19 districts in Madhya Pradesh today, while warning of heatwave conditions in three districts.
Rain and Thunderstorm Expected in Several Districts
Residents of Gwalior, Jabalpur, and 17 other districts in Madhya Pradesh may experience rain and thunderstorms today, according to the IMD.
Cities such as Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain are expected to have cloudy skies, while intense heat will persist in several other parts of the state.
Rain is forecasted in the following districts:

Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Sheopur, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Sagar, Narmadapuram, Betul, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Jabalpur, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat, Dindori, and Anuppur.
Mild rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue across parts of the state for the next four days, with some areas also facing the possibility of heatwave conditions.
Heatwave Alerts Issued for Three Districts
The IMD has issued a heatwave alert for Ratlam, Khandwa, and Burhanpur, where temperatures are expected to soar significantly today.
Despite scattered rain showers, the intense summer heat will remain a concern for most parts of Madhya Pradesh.
Friday’s Temperature Highlights Across the State
On Friday, the state experienced severe heat:

Khajuraho (Chhatarpur district) recorded the highest temperature at 44.6°C.

Shivpuri registered 44°C, and Damoh clocked 43.5°C.
Notably, 11 cities recorded temperatures above 43°C, including:

Gwalior, Naugaon, Satna, Tikamgarh, Ratlam, Guna, Mandla, and Narsinghpur.
Other notable readings:

Rewa, Shajapur, Umaria, Malajkhand, Sagar, Narmadapuram, and Khandwa recorded temperatures exceeding 42°C.

Sidhi, Khargone, Dhar, Chhindwara, Seoni, Raisen, and Betul had maximum temperatures over 40°C.

Meanwhile, Pachmarhi, the only hill station in Madhya Pradesh, remained relatively cooler at 36.2°C.
